What to expect: 

10 - 14 days of diving, ecology lectures, and scientific methods training

  

Education and training will cover:

  • Fish and invertebrate i.d.

 

  • Scientific survey methods

​

  • Coral reef ecology, impacts of

            climate change and ocean acidification

​

  • Palau’s marine resources; threats to local

            reefs, fisheries impacts, and conservation measures

 

  • Meaning behind the data and how your trip contributes

            to conservation and management of the marine resources

 

​

Diving surveys

  • 2- 3 scientific surveys on SCUBA / day

  • some sites include bonus exploratory dives

​

Snorkel surveys

  • 2 – 4 scientific surveys on Snorkel / day

​

Field Work

    Nature is dynamic and our scientific expedition must work within nature’s parameters.  

    Some days will include both SCUBA and Snorkel.  All activities are based on tides.

 

​

Requirements: 

  • Participant is certified scuba diver with at least 30 dives.

 

Qualifications:

  • No formal training is necessary but participant must be familiar with tropical fish families.

    • Study guides will be provided upon registering for the expedition​

 

​

All scientific sampling equipment, identification material, study guides, and datasheets are provided

Day   14     ~  Culture Tour / Departure            

  • Cultural Tour

  • Pack up dive gear

  • Transfer to airport 

​

* Note:  Flights arrive to Palau at night - plan to arrive the day before.

We provide airport pickup and transfer to hotel
